Meet Preston Sanchez...

Preston graduated from the University of New Mexico May 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.  His ambition is to attend law school circa fall 2009. Preston was granted the opportunity to intern at Dismas House New Mexico as part of a remarkable program that allows students to interact within the judicial system while earning credit and gaining real world experience.

In his own words... As an intern I have learned a substantial amount about how the justice system functions as far as reintegrating ex-offenders into society.  Dismas House New Mexico is efficient in the process of assisting ex-offenders by allowing them a place of residence, beneficial programs to assist substance users and abusers, and maintaining an overall sufficient livelihood.  Before being accepted as an intern I really didn’t have any expectations; I was willing to learn all that I could about the other side of the judicial system.  Currently, I feel that I am privileged to be part of this process, and to be working with staff that are extremely dedicated to their jobs, that which allows for a greater amount of compassion on my part to perform my tasks with utter responsibility and dedication.

Dismas House New Mexico provides a lot of lift for individuals that have been, or are currently being released from incarceration,

and that would not be possible without the hard-working staff that are here every day, and I am proud to be part of it.
